Why you became a Banting Buddies weight loss coach?
I read The real Meal revolution by Sally Ann Creed and Dr Tim Noakes.
I was fascinated by how Tim Noakes is changing his perspective on nutrition and health. I want to share my knowledge with people that want to get healthy for life.
How have you personally benefited from Banting?
I have followed a LCHF life style and lost 18 pounds and kept it off for the past year.
Other interests and background info:
Two years ago my brother introduced me to the first RMR book and reintroduced me to Dr Tim Noakes who was an icon for me as a kid growing up. I read feverishly to understand his change of “heart” regarding carbo loading.
I have spent the past twenty something years as a Chef. My first 8 years, aboard yachts around the world. I studied in South Africa, UK and Thailand. I have taught cooking and gardening classes in Elementary schools – all this to educate children on how to cook and eat healthy food. Despite our climate having snow and below average temperatures for more than 6 months of the year , I try and eat as much locally sourced fruit, vegetables and protein as possible. I remain active by competing regionally in Squash and Tennis leagues and run between 5-10K per week depending on snow fall. I volunteer to educate children how to cook and how to eat healthy. During the summer months I work my own business as a Personal Chef and caterer.
With my dad being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in his mid-fifties and my start to the “Midlife Crisis”, I was ready to check on my Blood insulin levels and make a change to get off carbs and sugar. My blood sugar levels have been excellent for the past couple of years (I have a physical with blood work every January).
My mission is to teach and coach clients “How to Cook Banting”. It’s very easy to give a person a piece of paper or a book to follow a particular food style change, but for most people where I live, “cooking” does not come easy. Convenience and pre-made food is a way of life, diabetes, obesity and the rate of cancer here in the USA is out of control.
